Rob Key who is in charge of the England cricket team praised James Anderson’s choice to stop playing Test cricket.
James Anderson announced he will retire from Test cricket after the first game against the West Indies at Lord’s in July. His cricket journey started at Lord’s in 2003 and will end there too when he plays for England for the 188th time, just before his 42nd birthday.
James Anderson has taken 700 wickets in Test matches. Only a few cricketers like Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne have taken more wickets than him.
Rob Key talked about how important this decision was. He and the coach Brendon McCullum who came to England for this talked a lot with Anderson. Their talks helped decide it was time for new players to get a chance in the team.
