Atalanta wins 3-0 against Leverkusen in Europa League final

Must read

Ademola Lookman, a winger for Atalanta, played amazingly in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday. Lookman scored three goals, leading Atalanta to a 3-0 win.

Bayer Leverkusen, the new German champion, wanted to complete the season unbeaten and win three titles. However, Lookman’s performance ended their dream. Leverkusen had been unbeaten in Europe for 51 games, but Atalanta stopped their streak.

Lookman, who is from London and plays for Nigeria, took advantage of mistakes by Leverkusen players. He scored twice in the first 26 minutes and finished with a strong shot in the 75th minute. After the game, the 26-year-old said, “It’s one of the best nights of my life. I’ve always had confidence.”

Atalanta, coached by veteran Gian Piero Gasperini, became the feel-good story of the season. The club is from a small city and operates on a modest budget. They play attractive soccer and have loyal fans. This was Atalanta’s first top-level trophy in 61 years.

Even though Atalanta’s win stopped Leverkusen’s chance at making history, it was a great night for Lookman and his team.
