Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is supporting Rasmus Hojlund, a young player during his first season at the team. Rasmus who is only 21 years old joined Manchester United from another team called Atalanta in August. The team paid £64 million for him.
Recently some people have been critical of Rasmus because he has scored only one goal in his last ten games. This goal was in a match against Sheffield United, a team that has been doing poorly.
Erik ten Hag, speaking in defence of Rasmus, pointed out that the young player has scored 14 goals in 40 games this season. He said Rasmus is still young and needs time to develop. Erik also mentioned that Rasmus had been hurt three times which made things harder for him.
Even though Rasmus scored five goals in a big competition called the Champions League, the team did not do well enough to move forward in that competition. Later Rasmus did very well by scoring seven goals in six games but then he got a muscle injury which slowed him down again.
Erik ten Hag believes Rasmus will get better again. He thinks Rasmus is strong and wants to do well.
Manchester United is now getting ready for a very important game against Newcastle. This game is very important because Manchester United has been facing some difficulties like injuries and not always playing well which might stop them from playing in European competitions next year.
Erik ten Hag said the team is ready to try very hard to win against Newcastle. Some key players like Lisandro Martinez, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford might play in this game which could help the team.
Right now Manchester United is in eighth place in the league. They really need to win this game to try to get into a better position.
