Google Pay is adding three new features to make online shopping easier and clearer. Although the Google Pay app will stop working in the United States on June 4, these updates are for the Google Pay payment system, not the app.
First Feature: Card Benefits in Chrome
If you use an American Express or Capital One card on Chrome desktop, you will now see your card benefits when checking out. For example if you buy a round-trip flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco, your American Express Gold Card might offer three times the travel points. A Capital One Quicksilver Card could give you 1.5 percent cash back. Google plans to add more cards later.
Second Feature: Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)
Google Pay is expanding the “buy now, pay later” option to more websites and Android apps in the US. They are working with BNPL services Affirm and Zip for this.
Third Feature: Autofill Update
This feature is available worldwide. Shoppers using Chrome or Android can now use biometrics (like fingerprints) or their screen lock PIN to verify card details. This means you won’t need to enter your security code manually. If Google detects suspicious transactions, it will stop the payment. You can also set up device unlock, which asks you to unlock your phone to see full card details. This helps keep your card safe from others who might use your device.
