Punjab Government is going to take action against unnecessary use of antibiotics. Government has taken this decision after the statement mentioned in World Health Organization (WHO) latest report. The statement by Who stated that more than 60,000 people died in Pakistan due to indiscriminate use of antibiotics in 2019.
To avoid further causalities Punjab Government has decided to take immediate steps to stop unnecessary use of antibiotics in province. Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir conducted a meeting in this regard, he said that crucial human lives are being lost in Punjab due to unnecessary use of antibiotics. He said that government will be consulting with Health Care Commission and DRAP to take action against this practice and stop the undue usage. It is expected that within a week recommendation and instruction will be submitted from Drug Control Wing, PHC and DRAP to high authorities for final approval.
