Surge in Diarrhea and Gastroenteritis Cases as Heat Rises in Punjab

As temperatures soar in Punjab, there has been a significant increase in cases of diarrhea and gastroenteritis, with government hospital OPDs experiencing an influx of patients.

According to the Punjab Health Department, 21,373 cases of diarrhea and gastroenteritis were reported across the province in the last 24 hours. The report highlights that the rise in heat has led to a surge in these cases, overwhelming government hospitals.

In the past 24 hours, Lahore reported 1,721 cases, Faisalabad 1,583, Multan 1,248, and Gujranwala 1,143. Over the past week, Punjab has seen 123,279 cases of gastroenteritis and 1,656 cases of diarrhea.

The health department urges the public to take precautions to avoid dehydration and maintain hygiene to prevent further spread of these illnesses.
