The winners of the men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will get a shiny trophy and at least $2.45 million. This is the most money ever given in the tournament’s history. Last time in 2022 the winners from England got $1.6 million. So the prize has gone up by about $850,000.

This year the prize money has more than doubled: from $5.6 million in 2022 to $11.25 million. This also means more money for the other teams.

The other teams in the Super Eights will get $382,500 each. Teams that finish ninth to twelfth will get $247,500 each. The rest will get $225,000 each. Teams will also get $31,154 for each match they win except for the semi-finals and final.

“This event is historic in so many ways so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that” ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said. “Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an Out of This World event.”

The T20 World Cup 2024 started with the USA beating Canada in the first match on Saturday. The tournament has four groups with five teams each.

There will be 40 first round matches. The top eight teams will then move to the Super Eight stage. From there four teams will make it to the semi-finals. Group A has the USA, Canada, India, Ireland and Pakistan. Group B has Australia, England, Namibia, Oman and Scotland. Group C has the West Indies, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Uganda. Group D has Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

The two semi-finals will be on June 27 in Tarouba and Providence. The final will be played in Bridgetown on June 29.
